Getting from Bangkok to Khao Yai
Khao Yai National Park sits inland in Nakhon Ratchasima province, north-east of Bangkok. It is Thailand’s oldest national park and part of a UNESCO World Heritage forest complex. Most visitors base themselves in or around Pak Chong, the town at the park’s northern approach, and use the park gate for day trips inside.
We handle the whole run door to door. The driver picks you up at your hotel or address in Bangkok, drives the full distance, and drops you at the hotel, resort or gate address you name when you book. There is one car for the whole trip and no transfer point along the way.
Bangkok to Khao Yai: distance and drive time
About 180 km and roughly 3 hours in normal traffic. The driver leaves Bangkok heading north-east on Highway 2, the Mittraphap Road, and stays on it through Saraburi province before turning off toward Pak Chong and the park approach. It is mostly highway driving with a shorter stretch of local road at the end.
Allow closer to 3.5 hours on a Friday evening or the start of a long Thai holiday weekend, when traffic leaving Bangkok backs up before the road opens out past Saraburi. Outside those windows the run is steady.

The fare is per vehicle, not per person. Eight people in one minivan at ฿5,500 pay less than two sedans at ฿9,000, so a group should take the van and split it. The same fares apply in reverse, from Khao Yai back to Bangkok. Every route we run sits on the full price list.
What the fare includes
The car and driver for the whole run, fuel, and any tolls on the way. The price is locked when we confirm the booking and does not rise at night or on a public holiday. Payment is cash in Thai baht, handed to the driver on arrival. Nothing is charged in advance and no card details are taken.
Not included is the park’s own entrance fee, charged separately at the gate when you go in. The amount and the gate hours are set by the national park authority and get revised from time to time, so we do not publish a fixed figure here — check the current rate before you plan your day.
Where you stay: the Thanarat Road corridor
Thanarat Road, also numbered Route 2090, runs between Pak Chong town and the park’s northern gate. Resorts, small hotels, vineyards and cafes line the road for several kilometres before the gate, and it is where most visitors staying near Khao Yai actually end up rather than in Pak Chong itself.
If your hotel or resort sits along Thanarat Road rather than in town, give us the property name when you book and the driver takes you straight there. The fare is the same whether you stop in Pak Chong or continue on to the gate.
Visiting the park
Inside Khao Yai there is hiking, waterfalls and a reasonable chance of seeing wildlife, including elephants and gibbons in the right season, though sightings are never guaranteed on a single visit. The park has its own entrance, staffed separately from where the taxi drops you, and a foreign-visitor fee is charged in cash at the gate.
Gate hours vary by season and the park revises them without much notice, so confirm the current schedule before you commit to a same-day round trip. We can drop you at the gate or at your accommodation, whichever you need first.
Khao Yai to Bangkok: the return trip
