The Cruise Terminal at Laem Chabang

Laem Chabang is a working container and cargo port in the Sriracha district of Chonburi province on the eastern Gulf coast. Cruise ships dock at the Laem Chabang International Terminal, where the passenger building is designated Terminal A1, and major ships berth alongside with no tendering required.

Facilities inside Terminal A1 are basic: a few souvenir stalls, a currency exchange, and a Thai massage booth. There are no cafes or lounges, so arrive ready to board.

You cannot walk out of the port. The terminal exits onto an industrial port road, well over a kilometre from the port gate, and passengers must leave the pier area by vehicle. Some cruise lines run a shuttle to Pattaya, but not to Bangkok, so arrange transport before you arrive.

Routes and Timing to Laem Chabang

All Bangkok routes to the port run on Motorway 7, the same highway that serves Pattaya. The times below assume normal conditions; on a sailing day, plan around the upper end of each range.

From Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)

Suvarnabhumi sits on the eastern edge of Bangkok, which makes it the closest of the two airports to the port. The drive runs almost entirely on Motorway 7 and takes 1 to 1.5 hours in normal traffic, closer to 2 on Friday afternoons and Thai holidays.

From Don Muang Airport (DMK)

Don Muang is on the northern side of Bangkok, so the route first crosses the city before joining the motorway south. Plan for 2 hours or more, particularly on weekday mornings and evenings.

From Bangkok City Centre

From hotels in Sukhumvit, Silom, Riverside or the old city, the drive takes around 2 hours in normal conditions, and has stretched towards 3 hours in heavy traffic. Build a buffer into a sailing-day transfer.

From Pattaya

Laem Chabang is about 25 km north of Pattaya, a drive of roughly 30 to 40 minutes. Many passengers spend a night or two in Pattaya before or after the cruise; we cover this hop door-to-door.

After Your Cruise

All routes run in reverse: your driver collects you at the terminal pickup area and takes you to a Bangkok hotel, to Suvarnabhumi or Don Muang, or down to Pattaya.
